All District Students Can Eat Breakfast and Lunch For Free!
Every student in Dallas ISD can now eat free breakfast and lunch at no cost to them. Effective Oct. 1, Dallas ISD is implementing Provision 2, a federal amendment that allows the National Lunch and School Breakfast programs to be offered districtwide to all students free of charge.
The district qualifies for this option based on the number of completed applications for free and reduced-priced meals received by FCNS. While the district received 85 percent of the needed number of completed applications for a successful roll-out, FCNS continues to encourage parents who have not completed an application to do so in order to maximize the success of the Provision 2 amendment. Meal applications will be accepted throughout the year, and families can support this initiative by submitting a meal application by the end of October. Applications can be completed on-line at foodapp.dallasisd.org.

The student committee has planned the details and will decorate Mon and Wed prior to the party, and will stay afterschool on Friday to prepare for the party, eat free dinner, dress at the school, and then attend the party.... all without going home. If you'd like to join in, please do!
If you want to help chaparone, donate supplies, lend decorations, sponsor the photo booth, or join the planning committee, please use this form to sign up! We'd like to have enough adult volunteers such that the kids don't have to "work the party" and just enjoy it once it begins... so thanks if you can come and help out!
CRASH is a comprehensive media campaign designed to show the truth and dangers of distracted driving associated with DWI, cell phone use, texting and fatigue, among many other factors. This compelling documentary follows the journeys of real families coping with the impact of poor driving decisions. Meant to be a catalyst for discussion, this presentation should rally support from community and educators to find a way to make the most dangerous activity any of us do, drive a vehicle, safer.
The program was made possible through a grant from State Farm Insurance provided by Texas PTA.
Texas PTA awards thousands of dollars each year to graduating seniors and current school faculty who are pursuing their dreams and passion through higher education or advanced training. Your PTA can help support this effort by promoting this program in the coming weeks. The deadline for student applications is December 1, 2013, while the deadline for educators is January 15, 2014. All eligible applicants must be current PTA member on file with the State Office (your SEM PTSA submits this on your behalf when you join our PTSA) and submit their application via the Texas PTA website.
