Please consider allowing your child to stay after school “until late bus” to decorate for the Comic-Con party Tuesday and Wednesday. (we are pre-decorating for the party to gain interest AND because we are starting so early on Friday.)
We also need loans of video game systems and supplies, games, and people interested in helping with the gaming area.
On Friday… we need as many parents - as early as possible - to help decorate and to prepare the food for vending. Any student or parents can help us Tuesday/Wednesday after school, but we especially need lots of parents EARLY on Friday.
We are selling food right after school to the Oktoberfest crowd and to students leaving school
If you are thinking of signing up for food: We need the items early in the day so we can start selling early… so please let your child bring them into school in the morning… and leave in the kitchen/frigerator in room 211… with a note on it for Comic-con.
Please consider the following list… but feel free to get creative.
Please clean out your party supplies “stash”… we’d love to take your left overs - streamers, ribbon, tablecloths, etc. as long as they are bright bold colors and/or character theme…think spider-man, iron-man, super-man, etc. We won’t be able to use: pastels, or Halloween theme decorations.

Environmental Science Club News
Townview Students part of the SEM Environmental Science/Volunteering Club participated in the FIRST volunteering activity at White RockLake on October 19, 2013, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. In total, Townview has put in 48 hours of service to help the environment through this club, as each of the 12 participants helped clean the White Rock Lake.
The twelve participants in this activity were: Allan Garcia, Narcy Gonzalez, Yeun Hur, Dong Hur, Michaelangelo Bellinghausen, Jimmy Bellinghausen, Murali Subramanian, Anali Balderas, Minh Tran, Christian Benitez, Jimmy Nguyen, and Bastian Kasunoran.
Thanks to Mr. McLoda, the sponsor for this club, and the two presidents: Diego Munoz, and Murali Subramanian for conducting this activity.
We hope to see more participants in the volunteer activities in the coming weeks. The next two activities are scheduled for the Texas Discovery Gardens (Oct. 26) and White Rock Lake (Nov. 3). For more information, please send an email to email@example.com."
For more information and for photos, check out the website article on the news page.
All New to District students at Townview (and those at all DISD schools that are New to the District or certain grade levels) are mandated by the State of Texas to have certain health screenings performed. These include vision, hearing, height, weight, etc.
We will be calling students out of classes beginning the next 2 weeks to perform these exams.
We appreciate your efforts and assistance in sending those students.
If you have any questions please feel free to call or come by the clinic.
Additionally, Carter Blood Drive will be here October 21st Monday and October 22nd Tuesday. The blood drive will take place in the gym.
Only students who have signed up will be able to donate. These students will also receive a hall pass with the return time to class on their pass.
If a student returns to class and doesn’t have a signed pass, you may send them back to the gym to verify time.
A student MUST have a written hall pass with their name, date, time and teacher’s name in order to be seen in the clinic.
These passes are obtained through your main office.
There have been many students without passes or those that want us to write them a pass back to class when they have not been given a pass by their teacher.
If the student has a pass, we will also always sign and put the time the student left the clinic to return to class.
Hopefully, this will keep students from walking the halls without a pass or later telling the teacher they were in the clinic when they actually were not in the clinic at all.

Free Lunch for Every Student in DISD
Every student in Dallas ISD can now eat free breakfast and lunch at no cost to them. Effective Oct. 1, Dallas ISD is implementing Provision 2, a federal amendment that allows the National Lunch and School Breakfast programs to be offered districtwide to all students free of charge.
The district qualifies for this option based on the number of completed applications for free and reduced-priced meals received by FCNS. While the district received 85 percent of the needed number of completed applications for a successful roll-out, FCNS continues to encourage parents who have not completed an application to do so in order to maximize the success of the Provision 2 amendment. Meal applications will be accepted throughout the year, and families can support this initiative by submitting a meal application by the end of October. Applications can be completed on-line at foodapp.dallasisd.org.
