The 2013 Cigna Mayor’s Race 5K and Fun Run Presented by Oncor is part of the race weekend festivities surrounding the 44th running of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon. The Mayor’s Race, launched eleven years ago by then-Mayor Laura Miller is a way to encourage school kids to become more physically active..
2013 Canterbury Episcopal School Fall Scholastic Chess Tournament
Saturday, November 16, 2013. Tournament will run from 9:30 am to approximately 3:30 pm. All players must be present and checked in for round one by 8:45 am.
Canterbury Episcopal School, Bishop Hall
1708 North Westmoreland Road, Desoto Texas 75115
Eligibility:Dallas area K through 12th Grade students.
Sections:Three sections: K – 3rd Grade, 4th – 5th Grade, and 6th – 12th Grade.
Format: Five-Round Tournament. Players play against opponents in their own section.
Prizes:Individual and Team awards for each section. Team scores and standings will be based on the top 4 scorers from each school.
Entry Fee:Participants pay $10.00 on the Saturday of the tournament when registered in advance; $ 15.00, if not registered by 9:00 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2013.
Make checks payable to CrossOver Arts.
Registering:Players are encouraged to register through their school chess team. All team members must be checked into the tournament by a teacher/coach or supervising adult. Students will not be allowed to check into the tournament without an advisor or parent present.
Register in Advance. Schools or individuals registering on site may be given a first round bye.
Advance registration ends Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 9:00 p.m.
