We are taking nominations for the 2014-2015 PTSA Board. The list of board postions can be found on the PTSA website in the bylaws and the standing rules. Being part of the SEM board is fun and interesting, and is also a way to give back to your child's school. If you are interested in volunteering for the board or want more information, please contact the nominating committee represenative, Cathy Lux at Cathy@compuguru.com.

Student Opportunity: Election Clerk
In conjunction with the Secretary of State, the Dallas County Elections Department encourages students who are eligible to participate in serving their community and political process as an Election clerk. The Dallas County Elections Department has long welcomed student Election workers, and now with this program, we intend to provide students with a greater awareness of the Election process and the rights and responsibilities of voters. With this working experience, these students have an opportunity for civic engagement and are more likely to vote and participate in elections.
To expedite the process and to ensure the student is put in the student pool, a packet is attached that includes the criteria that each student must meet before, during, and after the Election.
The packet also includes a checklist for the student so they know what to expect and what their responsibilities are as an applicant and if placed, a student clerk. It is very important that the student read the criteria and checklist.
The application also serves as the permission form from the parent and school for a specific Election. If the student has worked a previous Election they still need to submit an application for the current Election.
PLEASE NOTE THAT AN APPLICATION SUBMISSION DOES NOT GUARANTEE A PLACEMENT. IN ADDITION: It is mandatory that all students attend a student clerk training whether they’ve worked in the past or not. DEADLINE for application submission is February 7, 2014 for the March 4 Primary Election.
