Junior Leadership Board at Children’s Medical Center
My name is Michelle Gross and I am Staff Advisor to the Junior Leadership Board (JLB) at Children’s Medical Center The JLB is comprised of 30 high school students (sophomores, juniors & seniors) from Dallas and Collin Counties who serve alongside of Children’s Foundation Board of Directors. JLB members volunteer, raise money, and explore different facets of Children’s to better understand how a pediatric, not-for-profit hospital serves the children of our community. It is a fantastic volunteer opportunity for teens!
The 2015-2016 school year will mark six years for the board, and we are very excited to share that we are now accepting applications for membership. We kindly request your support in our recruitment efforts by alerting your students to the opportunity to apply. I have provided some sample text below for your convenience.

SEM Students Compete in T.A.M.E Math Competition
This past Saturday, six (6) SEM students competed in the Dallas Chapter Regional Math Science Competition for the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME). These students became members of the Dallas Chapter of TAME when they joined the NSBE – SHPE Lighthouse Junior Chapter at SEM. Parents signed release forms and transported them to the competition at Tarrant County Community College in Arlington, TX. Below is the list of students and how they placed in the competition. I also want to thank Mr. Boykin & Ms. Dove for their support of these students. SEM Student Participants:
1. Martin Shaw = 1st place Physics / 3rd place Calculus 2. Brenda Venegas = 1st place Calculus / 4th place AP Chemistry 3. Corren Scott = 2nd place Calculus / 6th place AP Chemistry 4. Michael Ramirez = 1st place AP Biology / 2nd place Statistics 5. Alejandro Lopez = 1st place AP Physics / 1st place Statistics
@ 1st place winners will compete in the statewide competition at Lockheed Martin Headquarters in Fort Worth, TX in May.

There is a new Facebook page for the SEM PTSA! The purpose of this SEM PTSA Facebook page is to further the PSTA and school's vision and mission,support student learning and staff professional development, and enhance communication with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members. Users are expected to use the site only for those purposes. This is a closed group, so admission is restricted to SEM community members (family, students, alumni, PTSA members and supporters of SEM.)
