Mr Carter writes: My students need seven LabQest Mini interfaces to use with school issued laptops to collect experimental data.
My AP Physics classes are an interactive series of lessons, problem solving, and laboratory exercises. I am requesting seven LabQest Minis, a device that will allow my students to connect sensors to our laptops so they can make measurements during our frequent lab exercises.
The seven LabQest Minis from Vernier that I am requesting will be used to replace older, less capable, equipment that is starting to fail. They are a small device that is used to connect a series of different sensors to a computer. My students will be using them on a nearly weekly basis to collect experimental data that will be analyzed using laptops that are being issued to them by our school.
With our school's limited budget for new equipment, I need your help to enable my students to explore the world of the scientific laboratory.
My students will be able to see how data is collected during an experiment and then learn how to analyze the data and reach meaningful conclusions about the world around us.
AMC/Interstellar Math Madness News:
Science/Engineering outscores Maret, Washington, DC
They've done it again. These 20 amazing students competed Wednesday against the Maret School, Washington, DC.
SEM racked up 26 points overall on Wednesday against Maret's 20. This was not a live competition since the two schools are in different time zones. Maret competed on Friday.
SEM currently sits at position 86 for the top 5 players, and at position 68 for the top 20 players, among 500 participating schools.
We've got a great team this year. Wish them well as they move deeper into the season.
Professional Yearbook Pics - Order now!
This year we had our yearbook photos taken professionally by LifeTouch. Please support our program by purchasing photo packets of your child.
Students unhappy with their photo, may bring their photo flyer proof sheets with them to be granted retakes – must have this flyer with them. Walk-ups not prepared with their photo flyer are discouraged because they tend to get a lot of students retaking, just “because”… but they weren’t dissatisfied with their original takes.
The Reflections program is open to all SEM students if the student or at least one person from their primary household is a current member of our SEM PTA before submitting an entry.
The 2015-2016 Reflections theme is Let Your Imagination Fly.
Reflections is a fabulous PTSA program.
Reflections is PTSA's signature arts program. The arts — and the Reflections Program — support student success and serve as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in our school community. Celebrate arts learning in our SEM school community with Reflections.
Reflections provides opportunities for students to create art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts (which includes drawing, painting, print making, and collage). No experience is required.
Students submit entries by our SEM deadline. Our PTSA will judge the entries, present local awards and submit the advancing entries in each category to the council. Entries are judged at the local, council, state and national PTA levels.
Key dates: SEM entry deadline: November 13, 2015 Deadline Extended! Trinity Council entry deadline: TBA (usually early December)
Students may enter any or all of the six art categories. Multiple entries within a single arts category is permitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student and created specifically for the Reflections program based on the national theme. Each entry must also conform to the guidelines developed by the National PTA.
