3D Pneumatic Aerator Creators
A group of SEM students: Hunter Adams, Kimmy Chang, Austin Davis, Isabel Ferguson, Olivia Northcutt-Wyly, and Ginger Simon teamed up to compete in the Lexus Eco challenge. For the challenge, students must identify a environmental issue and come up with an effective and resourceful solution. Our team has developed a 3D printed aerator composed of recycled plastic that combats harmful algal blooms through the releasing of dissolved oxygen. The increase in oxygen, provided by the aerator, allows aerobic bacteria to thrive and better compete with and eliminate the algal blooms. To support SEM's team, donate your recycled plastic in Mr. Moore, Ms. Cox, and Dr. Tuttle's classrooms and visit 3PAC's website and their Facebook page for more information.
Comic Con - Volunteers needed! We've broken the tasks down into sub-committees and need volunteers to chair the committees and to serve on the committees. (Decorations, Food, Photography, Costume Contest, etc.)
Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for nearly 50 years. Through the efforts of Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story.
SEM will feature the winning entries in the yearbook, and PTSA newsletter, and will choose up to 20% or at least one entry from each category to advance to the Council/Regional level. It will then be reviewed and perhaps chosen to advance to State competition, and perhaps then on to National competition!
Students may enter the Reflections program in one or more arts categories with no limit to the amount of entries in a single category. See each arts category rules for additional entry requirements.
The student or at least one person from their primary household must be a current member of the SEM PTSA. (Membership deadline is the submission deadline for Reflections.)
Our 2017 PTSA Committee Chair is Raul Trevino; please contact him if you have any questions.
