Series: What I Did This Summer
Kimmy Chang worked a paid internship at Cyber Group, a software engineering company. As an analytics intern, she used Qlik Sense and R to transfer the QlikView platforms of 30 companies, including US Bank and Equifax, to the Qlik Sense program for Colliers International. Additionally, for a company demonstration, Kimmy created a virtual reality application that represented population, water access, and incomes as lines, variant in length upon the measure’s magnitude, on a 3D-globe that users could walk around. With the knowledge she gained, she coded a dynamic global warming data visualization that evaluated the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis’ applicability to current world trends, which she presented in webinars and published a research paper on.
At the end of the summer, she was offered to continue working at Cyber Group throughout her senior year. Kimmy is currently employed and continues to do QA and data visualizations as part of the business intelligence team at Cyber Group.
